A Church with a Mission: Reaching... Teaching... Being...
On June 3, 2006 the Cornerstone Church was dedicated to this mission:
Mission Statement
Building up the Church of God;
Transforming lives by the power of the Holy Spirit;
Proclaiming the second coming of Jesus Christ,
The Cornerstone of our faith.
Crafted into this statement is a Trinitarian theology. We at Cornerstone believe in the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
The Cornerstone Church of Seventh-day Adventists is a bible-based community that is taking shape under the power of the Holy Spirit. Our desire is to help all who worship with us enter into a loving community of believers and into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
In order to bring peace to a sin-sick, suffering world God must be manifested in His fullness. Christ fully and completely revealed God, "for in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form" (Colossians 2:9). In Him God--the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit--was manifested. We, the Body of Christ, must also reveal God--the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit. We do this by these three tasks: Building up the church... Transforming lives... Proclaiming the second coming... This is what we do at the Cornerstone Church. We are revealing the character of God. Is there any task more important than this?
Our History
In March 1998, a proposal to establish a pilot church--Northern Virginia Christian Fellowship (NVCF)--was accepted by the Potomac Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. The plan detailed the need for a church plant in Fairfax County, Virginia. In April 2005, NVCF merged with True Life Community (TLC), a sister Seventh-day Adventist faith community that was meeting in Reston, Virginia. Soon after, Pastor Patrick D. Williams became the pastor of NVCF/TLC. Now known as the Cornerstone Church of Seventh-day Adventists, we are driven to fulfill our vision throughout Northern Virginia.
